Quatuor Akilone HAYDN | MOZART | SCHUBERT

These three works - Haydn’s Quartet in C major Op.20 no.2, Mozart’s Quartet in G major KV. 387 and Schubert’s Quartettsatz in C minor - accompanied us during our Erasmus stay in Vienna where the four of us spent a few months in 2015. This cultural immersion was very important for us, and the idea of beginning with a reference to Vienna for this first recording seemed interesting to us. Haydn, Mozart, Schubert: three Austrian composers amongst the founding fathers of the string quartet.
We had the idea of each ‘speaking’ in this booklet. Daring boldness to pay homage to these three great men who inspire us in their works.
The name of Hatto Beyerle - eminent chamber player and professor, founding member of the Alban Berg Quartet, and creator of the ECMA - will often come up here. He was, and still is, at the heart of our evolution. Moreover, we received his precious advice during the preparation of this recording.
You will thus be able to follow our personal vision of these works in a text of our individual thoughts in colour. (Quatuor Akilone)
