Duo Villarceaux TANGO NUEVO

Whether playing on two pianos or four-handed on one, the “incandescent” performances of the Duo Villarceaux completely captivate audiences and critics alike. In numerous concerts, Alexandra Sostmann and Judith Mosch have proved themselves to be musical personalities who combine technical brilliance and vivacious personality with a sensitively communicated artistic message and achieve perfect homogeneity.
Alexandra Sostmann and Judith Mosch got to know each other at the Chateau de Villarceaux in 1996 while attending a master class of Christian Zacharias during the Festival d’Ile de France. After winning first prize at the Caltanissetta International Chamber Music Competition in Sicily in 1998 , they undertook concert tours through Europe, the USA, Canada and South America. In important musical centres like Berlin, Dresden, London, Paris, Vienna and Lisbon, Alexandra Sostmann and Judith Mosch earned enthusiastic reviews and invitations to return. The Duo Villarceaux is a regular guest at European festivals like the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, the Ruhr Piano Festival and the Central European Festival in Zilina, Slovakia, as well as at the concerts with ensembles like the Capella Istropolitana, the Berlin Chamber Orchestra, the Göttingen Symphony Orchestra and the Orquesta Sinfonica de Bahia Blanca. The duo already has three CDs of works by Stravinsky, Rachmaninov, Debussy and Ravel on the Thorofon label to their credit.
Alexandra Sostmann and Judith Mosch studied with such celebrated artists as Professors Volker Banfield, Karl-Heinz Kämmerling and Evgeni Koroliov, Dinorah Varsi and Dr Peter Katin. The two pianists have won several prizes and scholarships and appeared in radio and television productions. Since passing their solo examinations with distinction, they have concentrated on the copious piano duet repertoire.
